Keep your jewellery looking as good as new and sparkling by following these simple steps:

  • Clean you jewellery regularly using warm water & mild soap. Wipe it clean using a soft cloth. You could also choose to soak it in water for 3-4 minutes before washing it. You could soak it by putting it in a strainer under running water.

  • Store your jewellery well. Always use individual boxes or pouches, preferably the ones you bought them in. The chances of the jewellery getting scratched are high when stored with other jewellery, metals or gemstones. Always keep them individually wrapped in tissue or soft cloth

  • Pearls are soft and can be easily scratched. Store them separately in a pouch or wrapped in Muslin (soft cotton) or tissue paper and clean with some warm water whenever required.

  • While spraying perfume, do so before you wear your jewellery. Perfume if sprayed on the jewellery, can make the it dull or black sooner. Also, one should never use hard cleaners to clean them.

  • A good rub with a soft lint free cloth is usually enough to clean jewellery. For tougher stains use baking soda or detergent with water. You can soak jewellery with few drops of liquid detergent in a bowl overnight.

  • There is no need to buy exotic cleaning liquids from the market. Everyday household materials work well such as a soft brush (like an eyebrow brush), a toothpick, a strainer, some tissue paper and a lint-free soft cloth.

  • Stronger methods of cleaning using acids, steam or ultrasound techniques may be available at the jewellers’. These may only be used for very dirty jewellery.

  • Always pat dry wet jewellery after cleaning with a soft lint free cloth. Do not rub.

  • Avoid wearing jewellery while swimming as the chlorine reacts with the gemstones making them dull.

  • Abrasive work could scratch your jewellery so take rings out while gardening, etc

  • Avoid wearing jewellery in extreme temperatures since outside temperatures can affect the shine and luster of your jewellery.

  • Take out the jewellery before giving oil massages or cream massages to children. The residue of oil and lotions will gather dirt and grime.
